چکیده

This paper defines and exemplifies a new computational abstraction called i-dialogue which aims to model communicative situations such as those where an agent conducts multiple concurrent conversations with other agents. The i-dialogue abstraction is inspired both by the dialogue abstraction proposed by [17] and by the STROBE model [4]. Idialogue models conversations among processes by means of fundamental constructs of applicative/functional languages. (i.e. streams, lazy evaluation and higher order functions). The i-dialogue abstraction is adequate for representing multiagent concurrent asynchronous communication such as it can occur in service providing scenarios on today’s Web or Grid. A Scheme implementation of the i-dialogue abstraction has been developed and is available.

Modeling Lateral Communication in Holonic Multi Agent Systems

Agents, in a multi agent system, communicate with each other through the process of exchanging messages which is called dialogue. Multi agent organization is generally used to optimize agents’ communications. Holonic organization demonstrates a self-similar recursive and hierarchical structure in which each holon may include some other holons. In a holonic system, lateral communication occurs b...

Commitment and Argument Network: a formal framework for representing conversation dynamics

In the area of agent communication and dialogue processing, several researchers have dealt with dialogue modeling, semantics and conversational frameworks (conversation policies and dialogue games). However, few works have explored the representation of conversation dynamics. This paper presents a new formalism “commitment and argument network” (CAN) that provides an external representation of ...

Integrating Conversation Trees and Cognitive Models Within an ECA for Aggression De-escalation Training

Traditionally, Embodied Conversational Agents communicate with humans using dialogue systems based on conversation trees. To enhance the flexibility and variability of dialogues, this paper proposes an approach to integrate conversation trees with cognitive models. The approach is illustrated by a case study in the domain of aggression de-escalation training, and a preliminary evaluation in the...

Modeling and Efficiently Processing

Integrating pattern matching functionality over live and archived streams of events with hybrid queries has become very crucial for various complex event processing (CEP) applications including financial market data analysis and RFID-based asset tracking. Hybrid queries allow us to verify current live events, analyze archived events or even make predictions about future event occurrences. Altho...

Extractive Summarization and Dialogue Act Modeling on Email Threads: An Integrated Probabilistic Approach

In this paper, we present a novel supervised approach to the problem of summarizing email conversations and modeling dialogue acts. We assume that there is a relationship between dialogue acts and important sentences. Based on this assumption, we introduce a sequential graphical model approach which simultaneously summarizes email conversation and models dialogue acts. We compare our model with...
